Keeley LaSure

Hello, my name is Keeley LaSure and I am the resident minister of children. I am married to my college sweetheart, TJ, and we have three wonderful boys, TK, Skyler, and Breedyn. I met TJ at Lamar University here in Beaumont, TX in 2008 where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dance. I have been dancing for more than 30 years and teaching dance since I graduated Lamar in 2012. I have taught ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and creative movement to ages 18 months to adults in their sixties. Currently I am a teacher and choreographer for Mariposa School of Dance here in Beaumont.

My call to ministry began at twelve years old when I began serving in the nursery at my local Baptist church in Shallowater, TX. I began serving in Beaumont’s First Baptist’s Church’s children’s ministry in 2016 when Skyler was just a baby. I have taught Sunday school for babies, toddlers, 2 year olds, 3 and 4 year olds, and kindergarten through 4th grade. Currently I am the Children’s Bible Community teacher for the toddlers during the 9:30 service and the 2nd and 3rd graders during the 11:00 service. I have also been involved in the Puggles Awana Club since 2017 and have been the Puggles director since 2018. Recently, I have felt the call to deepen my ministry education and am currently a seminary student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Overall, my goal in ministry is to let every child know that they are loved, they are valuable, and they are welcome into the kingdom of God. Kids today are not the same as they were years ago. There is more anxiety, more peer pressure, and, with the advent of technology, more temptation available. I want every child to leave our ministry feeling loved by God, valued by the Savior, and welcome to return next week. Psalm 127:3 says, “Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.” I fully believe every child is a gift and every child is precious to our LORD, how much more precious is their salvation to the church?
